Jack Moore Elders Program

The Jack Moore Elders Traditional Program provides a unique connection between the Elders and the students of the Otetiskiwin School. It gives Elders an opportunity to share their knowledge, wisdom, culture, language and other components of Cree traditions which for thousands of years their forefathers have carried on, to the next generation as it is their responsibility to transfer the knowledge of traditions to their next generations. The six Elders employed by the program are proud being part of the Trust organization, as they say they would otherwise have little or no chance of transitioning between the generations. The program coordinator arranges for events involving young Cree children going to local school and elders who come to share their knowledge of Cree culture, history and traditions.
